I found a gem location for kayaking with kids near the Pittsburgh area. It is called Peters Lake Park in Canonsburg, Pa. The location is small, which in my case, it is very appropriate when kayaking with kids. They do not allow motorized vehicles, so you will find lots of kayaks or canoes, and lots of people fishing. The address of the park is: 560 Center Church Rd.
They have two main parking areas (with the kayak launches), and we chose the smaller one because it is less busy and we can put our kayaks in the water easy. They also have a trail that goes around the lake which was very nice for a walk (with a family or with dogs). I did not measure the trail, but it is a nice loop that is probably close to 3 miles (probably under 3). You can find some benches and some picnic tables in the trail.
